1027 Parties To Fight For 543 Seats In The Lok Sabha Polls, 2009..The Number Of Unrecognized Has Gone Up To 980 From 173 In 2004.
At Present The National Parties Are Bjp, Congress, Bsp, Ncp, Rjd, Cpi And Cpm.
As Per Election Commission Norms A Party Should Be Recognized As National Party , If Its Candidates In Any Four Or More States In Last Lok Sabha Or Assembly Polls Have Scored Not Less Than 6% Of The Total Valid Votes In Each Of The Respective States.
The Other Criterion To Be In The National Party Category Is That The Party Should Have Won At Least 2% Of Total Number Of Seats Any Fraction Exceeding Half Being Counted As One During The Last Election. More Over The Party Candidate Should Have Been Elected To The House From Not Less Than 3 States.
